Canoeing with River Point Outfitting Co. – Day Canoe Trips – Overnight Canoe Trips
Spending time canoeing within the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) is an experience of a lifetime and on the “bucket list” of many people. River Point offers both day and overnight canoe trips.
Guided Day Canoe Trip #1 (Fishing, Photography, Birding, & More)
Take a deep breath; this day is a day to be savored. One of our experienced in-house guides will take you into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for a fabulous full day of fishing. If you are not sure of your canoeing skills, join our instructional canoeing group class, or we will arrange a “one on one” canoeing class just for you prior to the trip. Walleye, northern pike, crappies, smallmouth… catch and release, or catch them and the guide will “cook em’ up.” Whether you are a beginner fisher-person or a seasoned veteran you will savor this day. If you love canoeing and fishing, this is the trip for you!
And, if the focus of your Day Canoe Trip is not on fishing…no problem. A guided day canoe trip can be tailored for your interests be it photography, swimming, wildlife viewing and birding, or simply for the enjoyment of experiencing the serene peace and quiet of the wilderness, or all of the above. Our knowledgeable canoeing guides can make it happen.
Includes: Expertise of a seasoned, congenial, and talented guide, canoe(s), life jackets, bait, typical BWCA style lunch with the guide filleting and cooking fresh fish over a campfire (if fishing).
Guided Day Hegman Lake Pictographs Canoe Trip #2
The intricate and mystery of Native American rock paintings, known as pictographs, still cast a spell of wonder on today’s traveler in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Wilderness. Hegman Lake is probably one of the finest examples of original Native American Pictographs to be found. The pictograph site at Hegman shows a clearly drawn moose flanked by a dog or wolf, a maymayguayshi figure (man-like) and several canoes. Unlike most other drawings these were probably done by someone sitting on a rock ledge, perhaps accounting for their sophisticated craftsmanship. Take time to appreciate this display of a culture we know so little about that were painted within the last 500 to 1000 years.
Plan to join your River Point experienced guide that has an exceptional amount of knowledge and interest in birding, botany, wildlife, and the history of the Boundary Waters on a wonderful day trip to Hegman Lake. Your northern Minnesota vacation can be enhanced by a day adventure like this one. Spend time on photography, identifying birds and their calls, finding carnivorous Pitcher plants and other rare plants, swimming and just plain enjoyment of the beauty of this special place.
Includes: Expertise of a seasoned, congenial, and talented guide canoe(s), life jackets, typical BWCA style lunch with maybe even some tasty fresh caught fish.
