River Point’s Marina is a full service facility with skilled and experienced Marina staff offering helpful boating and fishing advice and personalized instruction on motorized watercraft prior to release making for an enjoyable experience on the water. Let us provide any training that you desire for you and anyone who will be the “captain” of your rental watercraft.
A good rule of thumb to follow is if you don’t know the body of water, just go slow and take the time to learn the lake and the river, and have fun doing it. There will be a rental agreement for you to sign and it will be offered to you at the time of your rental period. When this is taken care of the Marina staff will show you the watercraft and all of its parts including the prop. You can check it out and we suggest even taking a picture of the motor and its prop before getting out on the water.
Plenty of time to ask questions and time to practice driving the watercraft in our protected bay area with assistance of the Marina staff, as needed, prior to heading out on the lake. We’re here to help! Just ask us.

Marina Rentals
When fishing northern Minnesota resorts there is no greater fun than to get on the water and explore whether by boat and motor or canoe. Please reserve Marina rentals when making your reservation, if possible. Birch Lake is easy to navigate, 20 miles long, and at all times you can view the other shoreline for confident navigation. With 90% of Birch Lake being undeveloped wilderness seclusion, loads of bays, inlets and islands, there is much to explore via motorized watercraft.
Check out the Resort and Birch Lake Maps to learn more. There are no motor size restrictions on Birch Lake or the South Kawishiwi River.
Please Note: To maintain the wilderness setting at River Point which offers privacy, peacefulness and the quiet you expect and in consideration of other guests, Personal Watercraft, such as Jet Skis, Wave Runners, etc. are not allowed.

Additional Information
- Payment of watercraft rental(s) is nonrefundable.
- Renter is responsible for any damage and/or loss to rental equipment.
- Guest watercraft rentals: applicable 6% resort fee
- Non-guest watercraft rental of 16′ Lund boats with 15 hp motors: add 20%
- Motorized watercraft rentals applicable for use on Birch Lake only

* Pontoon Boats and Pro Fishing Boats are not available for non-guests. These types of boats are only available when renting lodging at River Point Resort & Outfitting Co.
- Aluminum Canoes are complimentary for guest use on Birch Lake for a 2-hour daily limit
- SUP (Stand Up Paddleboards), Sit-on-Top Kayaks and Playaks (for little ones age 4-8), and paddleboats are complimentary for guests
Group Rentals
- Group rentals with multiple accommodations require minimum motorized watercraft rentals during the full length of the reservation.
- Number of motorized watercraft required is dependent upon the number of accommodations reserved.
- This guideline applies whether one person makes the group reservation for everyone or each subgroup within the larger group makes their own reservation.
Motorized Watercraft
- We reserve the right to require the rental of a motorized watercraft for the length of a reservation on specific Vacation Home Cabins and Cabins and also when renting specific Vacation Home Cabins and Cabins for multiple weeks, unless bringing a personal motorized watercraft. Please note: launch/dockage fees apply on personal motorized watercraft.
Docks
Inform us if you will bring personal motorized boat, motor, kayak, or canoe and the length of your motorized boat.
If you choose to bring your own motorized watercraft a launch and dockage fee per watercraft applies. Please Note, the launch fee is for the initial launch of each personal boat, with the expectation that each personal boat will remain in the water for the subsequent days/week of the reserved time. Multiple launches will be charged accordingly. Fees accrue for personal motorized watercraft moored either on a dock or on shore.
Aquatic Hitchhikers: Personal watercraft launched at RPR will be inspected for aquatic invasive species (AIS). We reserve the right to deny access if there is a potential danger of introducing AIS to the lake. Boats and trailers must be clean and free of mud and aquatic debris; drain plugs have been pulled; bilge and live wells are empty; live bait is fresh and does not contain water from other lakes, rods and reels and tackle are free of debris. For more information on how you can prevent Aquatic Hitchhikers, www.dnr.state.mn.us.

RESERVE EQUIPMENT “IN ADVANCE” & SAVE!
Reserve your marina rentals of 16′ Boats, Pro Fishing Boats, Pontoon Boats, and 9.9 and 15 Motors at least two weeks prior to arrival, and save an additional 15% service fee that would be added onto the normal waterfront rental charge indicated. For example: Weekly rental of a 16′ Boat with 15 hp Motor reserved prior to arrival (at least 2 weeks prior): $520; The same boat and motor reserved upon arrival: $598.
