River Point Road is a meandering, 1.3 mile private drive through the Superior National Forest into River Point Resort & Outfitting Co. off of state highway #1 providing a wonderful “buffer” from all things “unnatural”. As you drive on River Point Road your mind will begin to declutter, your spirit will begin to lift and your sense of anticipation will be heightened. As your journey continues you may even be “greeted” by resident deer who will welcome you to our little slice of paradise.

Birch Lake is the largest Ely area lake outside of the protected “canoe only” Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. And, the amazing South Kawishiwi River which flows directly out of the Boundary Waters forms both the east and west shoreline of River Point’s private peninsula and then joins 20 mile-long Birch Lake at the property’s southern most point. A strategic and one-of-a-kind resort location.
Because Birch Lake is a serpentine river lake you can see from one shoreline to the other at all times so navigating is relatively easy for both novice fisherpersons and experienced anglers. Plus, about 90% of the shoreline is federally owned making the fishing pressure very low. Family Reunion Package

Here at River Point Resort & Outfitting Co. on 7,063 acre Birch Lake in the heart of the Superior National Forest and adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness we have a long tradition of hosting family reunion resorts Minnesota.
You may enjoy individual 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom Cabins and Vacation Home Cabins for your getaway. However, the Villa Building with three 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom Villas within it are also perfect for all in your family to be together under one roof but yet with separate spaces.
Everyone will enjoy two natural sand beaches, complimentary aluminum canoes, beach watercraft, paddle boards, sit-on-top kayaks, kid-size playaks for the little ones, age 4-10, and paddle boats, there’s plenty of fun to be had. The playground and adjoining huge grassy play area is a superb place for the kids to run and play games. Adults can enjoy a rousing game of horseshoes while the kids play. Two favorite “in the water” spots are the floating island rafts; one at the north beach, the other at the south beach. River Point accommodations are Smoke Free. Smoking is optional on sundecks and patios. We request that cigar smoking is kept to a minimum and occurs in the parking lots, on the water, or in your vehicle.
